The Williamsburg Book Festival (Oct. 7) celebrated its fifth year with a full day of authors, workshops, panel discussions, demonstrations, and New York Times best-selling author Kathryn Aalto at the Stryker Center. Aalto is the author of The Natural World of Winnie-the-Pooh: A Walk through the Forest that Inspired the Hundred Acre Wood.
A special presentation from the Poetry Society of Virginia brought together Virginia's current Poet Laureate, Tim Seibles, along with three past Poets Laureate, Carolyn Kreiter-Foronda, Sofia Starnes, and Ron Smith, to the Festival for a lunchtime reading and book signing.
Five independent Virginia publishing companies displayed their books and hosted their authors, editors, and publishers. A panel discussion focused on the road to publication through an independent publisher - what to submit, how to catch the editor’s interest, and what to expect in the process.
